Pacquiao vs Cotto: The crowd taker!

pacquiao-vs-cotto

This is another moment to rejoice for boxing fans and aficionados. A contract has been completed for boxing’s biggest fight this November. The showdown between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto is now on. This is the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight!

Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto, two of boxing’s most popular and crowd-pleasing boxers, will meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Nov. 14 through HBO’s PPV.

After the long wait who’s to be Pacquiao’s foe now it is done. Bob Arum of Top Rank have announced to the reporters. This is again a sure edge for Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs) that he will receive more than 50 percent of the money. That was never a serious sticking and twigging point. The key holdup had been the contract weight.

The pride of Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs), a titleholder at 147 pounds, had agreed to drop below the welterweight limit for the fight. Pacquiao, the 140-pound junior welterweight champion, wanted him to come all the way down to 143 pounds where the Puerto Rican refused for this negotiation. Ultimately, both parties agreed on a 145-pound maximum weight.

Pacquiao, 30, a boxing icon and the national hero of the Philippines, tallied a sensational knockout over Ricky Hatton to win the junior welterweight title last May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. That victory gave Pacquiao a world championship in a record-tying sixth weight division. Simply amazing!

While the Puerto Rican Cotto, 28, is coming off a bloody split decision victory in a title defense versus Joshua Clottey on June 13 at New York’s Madison Square Garden where Cotto win in an emotional split decision.

Prearranged on their penchant for all-action brawls, Arum said that he had high expectations that Cotto and Pacquiao would produce another memorable fight where boxing fans should really bite.

Many said also that this fight will cover up the Mayweather vs Marquez match which is becoming infamous. But who knows? Two months still on the run to cover up its missing popularity and appeal to the boxing fanatics.

Let us watch the fight and support Pacquiao vs Cotto on the 14th of November at the MGM Grand at Las Vegas. Go Pacquiao!

Another big boxing event will be happening this August 22, 2009 at Toyota Center. The fight will be broadcasted live on HBO’s Boxing after dark at 9:45 PM ET. The Undisputed Lightweight World Champion and hometown hero Juan  takes on former 140-pound world titleholder Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi of Brooklyn, New York will be featured in the main event. The co-featured match sees ham-fisted Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero dares for a world title in a second weight class when he takes on IBF Junior Lightweight World Champion Malcolm Klassen.

I have seen these guys fighting in the ring with courage and will to dominate each and every fight. The Magic Man had a frustrating loss before to the Hitman Ricky Hatton and was disgusted with it. This was indeed the turning fight between Pacquiao and Hatton. People failed to remember, Malignaggi’s right hand was always injured through the route of his career making it really fragile the more he fought, and as you can see during the fight his right hand had no power to hurt Hatton. Watching that fight again, Malignaggi wasn’t the old relentless style fighter that he was, but a left hand one handed jabber fighter the whole fight and rarely brought out his brittle right hand on the table. Can he now sustain the power of Juan Diaz who has loss previously to Juan Manuel Marquez? Diaz said that Malignaggi is a slick opponent and it is a good test for him and he is confident that his fans in Houston behind him will give him more courage to win the fight.

The Vice President and General Manager of Toyota Center Doug Hall said that they are delighted to welcome back HBO and Golden Boy Promotions for another classic night of boxing in Houston. It is also known that the Houston fight fans have given their overwhelming support and cheers to boxing in general. The management is indeed honored that Golden Boy has asked the center to participate in yet another great night of boxing.

Let us wait and see this fight together for this will going to be another spectacular night of boxing.

Mayweather vs Marquez with new fight schedule!

Now it has been officially re-scheduled this September 19, 2009 at the same venue which is MGM Grand at Las Vegas.

Mayweather vs Marquez

Many had raised their eyebrows about this controversy and it constructed a doubt weather the news is true and did really happened. Who else would ever be happy if every fight would be suspended and become controversial because of this situation? There are speculations that the fight was re-scheduled because it is not selling tickets unlike any other big fights of Mayweather against Hatton and Dela Hoya. Although booth fighters were very disappointed with what happened. What ever the true reasons were, let us wait and see these two fighters clash inside the ring with this official date being announced.

Another consideration boxing fans should watch out is how these two fighters will end up this Mayweather vs Marquez match. It must be a spectacular TKO or at least a good brawling happened to this fight. Why? This will tell also if they can match the stunning and impressive last 3 wins of Manny Pacquiao which another marketable match up in the future. Watch VICTOR ORTIZ VS. MARCOS RENE MAIDANA live online!

ORTIZ vs MAIDANA

Another junior welterweight showdown between Victor Ortiz (24-1-1, 19 KOs) from Oxnard, California and Marcos Rene Maidana (25-1, 24 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina will be the main event features in an intriguing 12-round of boxing on Saturday, June 27 at 10: p.m. ET from staples Center in Los Angeles. During his last fight on March when he scored a standout win over Mike Arnaoutis, Ortiz is meeting his most formidable opponent to date.

The main event will be entertained first with the opening bout with an eagerly awaited rematch featuring a fighter from Semarang, Indonesia Chris John (42-0, 22 KOs) and Houston’s Rocky Juarez (28-4-1, 20 KOs). These evenly matched featherweights fought to a draw in the undercard of Marquez-Diaz last February, allowing John to retain his 126-pound title and setting the stage for an electrifying rematch. As we have remembered that all three ringside judges scored the first fight 114-114, a tremendously uncommon happening in the sweet science of boxing. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Mayweather vs Marquez postponed! Pacquiao vs Cotto Fight on November 14 instead.

After the dramatic split decision win by Miguel Cotto vs Clottey last June 14, 2009, the promoter Bob Arum sees that the Pacquiao vs Cotto can now be on. This going to be another money making match between these two fighters where winning for the name and title, not to mention the money at stake, is not a question.

A day after, Floyd Mayweather Jr., sent trembling through the entire boxing world with a press release declaring that his fight with Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez, scheduled for July 18 at the MGM Grand Garden in Sin City, would have to be postponed due to a rib injury, that break off Floyd’s training. It was said to be September 19 as the make up date although this has not been officially announced as it appears to be a word on the street only. There are a lot of speculations and discussions among boxing fanatics about the said announcement. May it be really the rib injury or this said mega match-up that wasn’t selling tickets must be postponed.  So, Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez is out for July 18.

Most Filipino boxing fans were wary of a third Marquez fight would rather see Pacquiao perform dental surgery on Mayweather, Jr. Sad to say that is not going to happen soon. The current front runner in the Pacquiao sweepstakes is Miguel Cotto. The Puerto Rican WBO welterweight title holder showed vulnerability in shrilling past Joshua Clottey last weekend.

Pacquiao is very eager to fight the Mr. Cash Money Mayweather until such time that the insider news came out about the postponement of the Mayweather vs Marquez fight set on July 18, 2009. It now appears all but certain that Pacquiao and Cotto, both promoted by Arum’s Top Rank Inc., will fight later this year at the MGM Grand, with the date on the table right now being November 14.

But if it will happen, this might not be the smartest move of Manny Pacquiao. In Cotto’s fight last June 14, I believe it wasn’t for hall of famer. I salute Miguel Cotto with his courageous will in fighting but the point is he will be facing the best pound for pound boxing in date. Does Miguel last fight deserved respect to face the hall of famer Manny Pacquiao? But in the world of boxing, now money matters. Everything will now be possible for this November 14 uncertain date since they are on the same promoter. Unlike the Pacquiao vs Mosley possibility where the latter is at the Golden Boy productions. But Mosley will probably be the next one. Huh!

If this Pacquiao vs Cotto match will be a reality, then this will make another story to tell not for Cotto, but because of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.

Big fight of Juan Manuel Marquez vs Floyd Mayweather Jr

The Number One of USA battled for Numero Uno of Mexico have prevailed.

UPDATE: Mayweather-Marquez fight is over. Mayweather defeated Marquez via 12 rounds Unanimous Decision 118-109, 120-107, 119-108. For Mayweather-Marquez Fight Results, click here.

“Pretty Boy”- Floyd Mayweather Jr., the welterweight title holder and pound-for-pound king until retiring last June, officially declared the end of his retirement after announcing a fight with lightweight champion Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez.

marquez-vs-mayweather

Prior to the agreed match, this fight was not yet finalized with discussions on the weight. But in the end, two camps settled on a utmost weight of 144 pounds, the pretty boy had wanted the fight to be at 145 pounds, but Dinamita (50-4-1, 37 KOs), the slighter fighter coming up from the 135-pound division where he is a champion, hanker after the weight as low as possible. The winner of Marquez-Mayweather undoubtedly appears as the most eye-catching opponent to the winner of Pacquiao-Hatton. Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez have previously brawled two incredibly close and exhilarating fights; a draw in the first and a split decision in the second in favor of Pacquiao.

This is another fight we are waiting for dear boxing fanatics. This Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Juan Manuel Marques fight is now on. That means it is time to start making your plans to be in Las Vegas on 18th of July to watch and see the undefeated champion take on Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand Arena. Some may say that this is absolutely a thrilling fight, a better fight than Mayweather – Pacquiao. Let us all again witness how this fight will end for everything is possible now. Dinamita Marquez is not to be underestimated and will surely put up a good fight against Floyd Mayweather. Marquez has put up good battles with Pacquiao in the past. I personally can not praise Mayweather in his last fights in the ring before his retirement. But we are lucky now to have such regular super fights at the moment.

Let us watch Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez on a PPV (Pay per View) or live online streaming. Previously, I am watching all the big fights of Manny Pacquiao vs Barrera, Morales, Marquez, and Hatton at the cinemas or big screens, going to the bars that have a Pay-per-View connections and pay for the fight with consumables included.
